        Continuing and Further Education

        For those able to get out and about there is life beyond Time Team! There are a number of organisations offering lectures, day schools and residential courses within, or within reach of, Merseyside. A fairly full list of potential providers is given on the Continuing and Further Education page of the Council of British Archaeology’s North West Region site.

        Lectures (Chester Society for Landscape History

        Residential Courses

        Based at Plas Tan Y Bwlch, the Snowdonia Environmental Studies Centre near Porthmadog.

        1st to 8th August. Practical Industrial Archaeology Week

        The Ratgoed Slate Quarry was linked by a 2 mile tramway to the Corris railway at Aberllefenni, the site of the Injun Magus Slate Mill and Enamelling Works. This annual event will continue recording the remains. Beginners welcome.

        31st August to 5th September. Hill forts of Snowdonia and the Lleyn.

        Based at the Blencathra Field Studies Centre near Keswick

        16th to 20th August. Celts, Romans and Rievers – The Archaeology of Cumbria. More details at www.field-studies-centre.org/blencathra.
