        Interested in Merseyside's past?

Then join the Merseyside Archaeological Society!

The MAS is an independent charity funded by our members' subscriptions. Since we were founded in 1977, we have brought together those interested in the archaeology and heritage of Merseyside.
News: Take a look at our blog - MAS Review - for details of the latest events and other news.
We also now have our own MAS Facebook page. Join in the conversation, or just leave a message!
Our interests cover the often-elusive remains of the prehistoric period to the iconic monuments of the Industrial Revolution in urban Liverpool. You are sure to find something of interest - whether you are an amateur or professional archaeologist or interested in your local archaeology and history.
The Society also encourages and advertises opportunities for education and participation in archaeology via courses, fieldwork and excavation.

        What we do

Over the winter a monthly programme of lectures, given by guest speakers at The Quaker Meeting House in central Liverpool, covers a diverse programme of subjects  related to archaeology.
This is followed by several full-day field trips to archaeological sites during the summer, and weekend trips to visit areas further afield.
The Society also organises periodic one-day conferences.
Through a regular newsletter members receive information about future events. Reports on archaeological work in the region appear in the Society's occasional Journal and members qualify for discounts on Society publications.
